Reprinting resolution adopted 17 Dec. 1887 acknowledging appreciaton to supporters for contributions, both by donation or personal services, to a fair held to raise funds for repairing damages from the 1886 earthquake sustained by the "Survivors' Monument and the Company's Armory"; signed in print, Sam[ue]l G[aillard] Stoney, captain, and W.M. Fitch, acting sec[retar]y.

A number of South Carolina militia units were adopted into the Continental Army. The 1st South Carolina Regiment, organized in 1775, consisted of ten companies. The Regiment was consolidated, although it retained its name, with the 5th Regiment, February 11, 1780 to consist of nine companies.
